For the third consecutive year, the Nordic Libraries for Sustainability Network will host a webinar that aims to inspire, highlight, and share how libraries contribute to a more sustainable future.

This year’s event explores how Nordic libraries champion community sustainability through innovative strategies and align their efforts with global manifestos to advocate for change, with a particular focus on strengthening strategic sustainability work within the library sector.

The webinar will also serve as the official kickoff for WEEK17 2026.

The program features Andrew Cranfield from the European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations (EBLIDA), who will open the event with insights into EBLIDA’s sustainability initiatives, his vision for the role of libraries, and how EBLIDA is supporting the concept of WEEK17.

Also joining is Eliška Bartošová from the Czech Republic, who will share how, within a single year, more than 20 libraries in the Czech Republic and 16 in Slovakia joined WEEK17 — an inspiring international example of rapid engagement and collaboration.

Participants will hear stories from each of the Nordic countries, showcasing how innovative projects, strategic decisions, and partnerships are driving sustainability in libraries. These presentations will highlight practical examples and best practices for integrating sustainability into library operations and community engagement.

As in previous years, the webinar will be broadcast through the professional Finnish library channel — with appreciation for their continued collaboration and support.
